Recently I had a really great time watching old music video clips and I would like to share my best findings with you to spread the joy :). These clips really show that both the music and the times are changing :). And thank God for that!
10. Jožin z Bažin by Ivan Mládek
The author of this song called it the "National Anthem" of his country (Czech Republic). Just to tell you what the song is about, it is a "surreal tale of a mysterious man-eating (especially coming from Prague) monster living on a swamp". You may believe it or not :).
9. Aiin by Mini Moni
It is like Teletubbies or Pokemons on drugs. And whatever drugs they are on, I really want some! :) To be honest, I feel somewhat damaged now...
8. Big Six by Judge Dread
Now it is reggae time! Ah, and these lights flashing everywhere. Magnificent. But be very careful with this one as listening to it might really hurt you ;). Judge Dread was the first white recording artist to have a reggae hit in Jamaica, and he also has the most banned songs of all time. A doubious success, but still a success. So do you want to take the risk? :)
7. Tiri-Tiri-Tam by Kazakhstan Rapper
I have no idea what is the name of the song. The guy that is singing it became famous after performing Freestyler in Kazakhstan Idol, although he even didn't manage to qualify to the next stage. Maybe that was a bad decision as maybe if he did qualify we wouldn't have had to watch that ...
6. I Want To Love You Tender by Armi Ja Danny
Another Finnish hit. This duo took the word entertainment to another level. But just look how well this dance is synchronized!
5. Creating Rem Lezar
It is a fragment of the children's musical film which revolves around two school children, Zack and Ashlee, and their imaginary hero Rem Lezar. I really was expecting Michael Jackson to appear at some point in that video. Now I'm gonna have nightmares...
4. She's Gone by Hall and Oates
Have these guys just escaped from a Chippendale prison? And could someone explain to me, what this video clip is all about? Please! Oh, and don't be scared as even the devil has a role in that clip. Well, I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out that he had even made that film up. That would really explain a lot.
3. Tainted Love by Soft Cell
This video should be banned :). A modern-day cricket player with a Victorian dressed lady... A little girl and a lead singer dressed in Greek togas... What is going on here? Am I having a nightmare? :)
2. Apache by Tommy Seebach
Tommy Seebach was born in Denmark. He was quite famous in his country and even managed to represent Denmark at Eurovision Song Contest (it is very popular contest in Europe, although not very prestigious :)). His result there wasn't astounding (or maybe it was ;)) as he managed to get only 9 points.
Ok, enough about Tommy. Let's concentrate on the video. The song is a classic instrumental written by Jerry Lordan in early 1960s. Tommy's video is set on a rocky hillside, it features scantily-clad dancers adoring a grinning keyboard player. And even three Indians just can't resist singer's mustache. Great fun is guaranteed. This version was recognized for its kitsch value and made the rounds of the Internet in early 2005.
1. N.M.K.Y. by Gregorius (Y.M.C.A. cover)
Sometimes it is unbelievable that a video clip like this one could ever be created. N.M.K.Y. is a Y.M.C.A. cover. For those who are not familiar with the meaning - those letters stand for the body figure you should make while dancing and so:
Y - Arms outstretched and raised
M - Made by bending the elbows from the 'Y' pose so the fingertips meet over the chest
C - Arms extended to the left
A - Hands held together above head
This is the Finnish version of this song and is just more great than anything else :). They are more gay than the Village People! Amazing :).
